Overview:
Ventiqo Technologies successfully executed a comprehensive network optimization project for one of our clients in Mexico. The project involved the installation of pfSense on a Hyper-V environment, the establishment of a secure VPN connection, and the implementation of monitoring and remote access solutions to enhance server management and operational efficiency.

Challenges:
The client faced challenges with network security, server management, and the need for remote access to applications hosted on their servers. Additionally, there was a requirement to migrate two critical servers from a data center to an on-premises environment, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity during the transition.

Solutions:
To address these challenges, we implemented the following solutions:

• pfSense Installation: Installed and configured pfSense on a Hyper-V server to serve as a robust firewall and router solution. This setup enhanced the client's network security and traffic management capabilities.

• VPN Configuration: Established a secure VPN connection to the client’s site, allowing for safe remote access to the network and ensuring data confidentiality.

• Monitoring with Zabbix: Installed and configured Zabbix for real-time monitoring of the network and server performance. This allowed the client to proactively manage their IT infrastructure and address issues before they became critical.

• Remote Access with Guacamole: Implemented Guacamole to provide secure remote access to applications hosted on the server. This solution enabled users to access their applications from anywhere, improving flexibility and productivity.

• User Management: Created different user accounts with specific permissions for easy management and control over access to the server and applications.

• Server Migration: Successfully migrated two main servers from the data center to the on-premises Hyper-V environment. This involved careful planning and execution to ensure data integrity and minimal disruption to the client’s operations.

Results:
The project resulted in a highly secure and efficient network environment for the client. The implementation of pfSense and the VPN connection significantly improved their network security. Zabbix provided valuable insights into system performance, while Guacamole facilitated seamless remote access to applications. The migration to an on-premises solution resulted in enhanced control over their IT infrastructure.
